Floral Fiction
Solo Show by Claudia Larcher
04.07.2025 - 28.09.2025, Clervaux Brahaus/ LUX
curated by Sandra Schwender
The exhibition Floral Fiction presents Claudia Larcher’s fascinating reinterpretation of the still life tradition, inspired by the Dutch painter Rachel Ruysch (1664-1750). A leading figure of the Dutch Golden Age, Ruysch was renowned for her meticulously detailed and vividly colored floral compositions, which carried profound symbolic meaning beyond their aesthetic appeal. Her work masterfully blended scientific precision with artistic brilliance, presenting nature as both breathtaking and transient.
Part of her series Still Life 3000, Claudia Larcher’s images build on this rich tradition, seamlessly bringing it into the digital age. Using artificial intelligence and digital media, she crafts futuristic still lifes that intertwine past and present, nature and technology, and art and consumer culture.
With the Floral Fiction exhibition, Claudia Larcher succeeds in revitalising the classic art form of the still life and impressively updating its relevance for the 21st century. The exhibition invites us to reflect on the connection between art, technology and our modern reality and to sharpen our perception of the transience – and beauty – of our digital age.
